![]() My experience has been underwhelming, as well. Haven't been able to use them at all on any but the most simple story missions. ![]() I can't afford to use them at the expense of my Vipers with most of my fleets. Unless they are significantly upgraded to at least the level of Vespid bombers, they have been consigned to the scrapyard and replaced by Vipers. I found them "questionably useful" on the same three ships, primarily those that have little armor, of course. LOL.I started with the Nemesis using 1,2 and then 3 squadrons of Taipans and worked my way up. Just remember to have Vipers protecting them. Try using 4 squadrons in Skirmish mode and you'll see how nasty they can be. It's supplementary firepower that can really mess up enemy ships that try to sneak around your main force. The Taipan is essentially a glass-cannon anti-capitol fighter sporting the light-guns from the Adamant. Taipans have 2 light-guns per fighter, and having 4 squadrons means having 8 light-guns rapid-firing at a single target at close range. The targets armour will be stripped away quickly. If you REALLY want to make them effective, use 4 squadrons and have them swarm a ship. having 2-4 squadrons will mess them up while your fleet deals with the bigger ships. Since those ships are primarily used in support roles (hacking/repairing) the Taipan is great at harassing them, especially in swarms.
